KOSDOWN INSTALLS NEW HORIZON PUR BINDER

Kosdown Printing has installed a new Horizon BQ-470 PUR perfect binding system, supplied by Currie Group, its first in-house perfect binder.

The Horizon BQ-470 has already taken Kosdown into new markets, as well as enabling it to offer more to its current markets.

Andrew Downie, business development manager at Kosdown said, “We decided to invest in a new perfect binder to be able to add to our in-house bindery capacity, and offer a complete one-stop shop for book work, and to save our customers time and money by not having to outsource this process.”

The new binder is being used for both offset and digital work, and is operating on both single and double shifts.

Downie said, “After a lot of research we saw that the Horizon BQ-470 PUR Binder was the perfect machine for our needs, based on the quantities we produce, and on the size of the machine for our premises.”

Kosdown Printing serves in a variety of business areas, ranging from the private sector, and local government, to corporate organisations.

It has 23 full-time staff, with the majority having worked at Kosdown for more than ten years, and some for more than 25 years, as well as casuals and occasional sub-contractors.

The 4-clamp Horizon BQ-470 automatic perfect binder has a fully automated set-up. It can bind up to 2.5″ thick books on 105gsm to 350gsm stock at speeds up to 1,350 books per hour. Quick-change interchangeable glue tanks allow switching between EVA and PUR adhesive in minutes.
