Swinburne joins from Vivid, and, says Avon managing director Tate Hone, “brings a wealth of experience” to the business, which Avon acquired from Murray Whitting four years ago. Whitting, who has been running the company, will remain.

Auscote is the main bookbinding trade house in the Sunshine State, and also offers laminating and PUR. Sister company Avon Graphics, which operates from the same building, provides foil stamping, embossing, UV coating, die cutting and large format trade printing.

Hone said, “Trade customers can have all their finishing and embellishing needs in the one location, with one order, no matter how much of the work is done by Avon Graphics or Auscote.”

Avon Graphics is headed up by Gil Davidson, who co-incidentally Swinburne was at one time apprenticed to, when they both worked at Platypus Graphics.

Swinburne said, “I am delighted to be joining such a forward-looking business, one that is looking to grow, invests in leading equipment, and aims to provide the trade with an excellent service to help them develop their own businesses.”

Hone said, “With the best bookbinding line in Queensland, and a host of best-in-class equipment, allied with our vastly experienced leaders, the future is bright. We are looking forward to seeing Auscote grow under Warren Swinburne’s leadership.”
