A record number of 86 golfers and 96 total attendees turned out at the Heidelberg Golf Course in Melbourne for the annual Australian Sign and Graphics Association (ASGA) Victorian Sign and Print Golf Day.

Sponsored by Graphic Art Mart, 18 holes of golf was played in the Ambrose style, which favours fun and teamwork, was played on a cool Melbourne day in the final event of ASGA’s 2025 series.

Competition was keen, with teams representing suppliers and industry businesses vying for a host of prizes – for everything from longest drive and nearest to the pin, to the hotly-contested Survivor Ball. All top three teams also recorded an eagle on the course.

This year, first place went to Team 3M – Mat, Dean, Samie and Aaron – who beat out a number of close contenders for top spot.

This was the first ASGA Golf Day at Heidelberg, and Damian Nielsen, member and events manager for ASGA, said it was a great choice.

“Heidelberg is a beautiful course, with plenty of interest and challenge – including a resident flock of goats – and exceptional club rooms and staff,” Nielsen said.

“Our Golf Day Series is a great chance for business owners, professionals and suppliers to make new connections, renew old friendships, and enjoy a day away from the office, and Melbourne this year delivered in spades, with a fantastic turnout, a great game and plenty of opportunity to network. It was a great way to finish up the Series.”

Prizes were presented at an industry lunch in the Clubrooms following play, with a good number of other signage identities joining the group for a chance to catch up with colleagues from across the industry before the holiday rush really sets in.

The Melbourne event also saw the presentation of the first annual Series Trophy, the ‘Punchy’, awarded to the team which boasted the best performance across all ASGA Golf Days – in Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne.

Named after industry legend and former ASGA member and events manager, Michael Punch, the trophy has been established as a perpetual Award which recognises the ongoing support of participating companies as much as their overall performance – something for which Punchy himself is well known.

“The Punchy recognises the things that Michael Punch embodies – the spirit of participation, camaraderie and support for the industry, as much as it recognises achievement,” said Nielsen.

“It was great to be able to present the inaugural Punchy to Graphic Art Mart, who have not only supported our Golf Day Series as sponsors this year, but have entered teams in each of the ASGA Golf Days around the country, and achieved some great results.”

The 2025 ASGA Sign and Print Golf Series is made possible by the generous support of industry-leading suppliers Spicers, Graphic Art Mart, Bentleigh Group, Mulford, Orafol, Signarama, SMIB, Spicers and Bounce LED/LetterTech. They were joined for the Melbourne event by SMIB, Peak Install and HVG Graphics Media.

The 2026 ASGA events calendar is currently being finalised. For the latest on all ASGA events, keep an eye on the Current Events page on the ASGA website.
