The Penrith Museum of Printing has named the speakers for its free presentation scheduled for Tuesday 21 October from 1:30pm-3:30pm, as part of the NSW State Library’s Rare Book Week events.

The three speakers and presentation topics are:

Penrith Museum of Print’s president and former Fairfax/Rural Press CEO of Print and Distribution will reference the Museum’s early 20th century linotype and intertype machines, and unpack how they revolutionised newspaper and book production.

Jean Kropper, The Curious Evolution of Book Structures

Kropper is an expert on paper engineering and bookbinding and runs design studio Paper and Pixel. She is an internationally published author of three books including Handmade Books and Cards, with Davis Publications. She is also a volunteer at the Print Museum.

McCourt spoke at the 2023 Rare Book event, on Shakespeare and the Gutenberg 42-line Bible. This year he’ll cover the evolution of typefaces – from pre-Gutenberg to Google, MS, Adobe. He will also cover some interesting surprises about Australian-made type fonts.
