The world’s big textile show Heimtextil is the latest print-related expo to fall victim to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, which continues to rage throughout Europe.

Cancelled: Heimtextil 2021

The annual exhibition, which had already been postponed from last month and was due to take place at the Messe Centre in Frankfurt in May, has now been canned, with the 2022 show scheduled for 11-14 January next year instead.

Heimtextil covers everything from decorative and furniture fabrics, to textiles for the bedroom, bathroom and table, wallpaper and sun protection systems.

No print-related shows are taking place outside China in the first half of the year, with drupa and interpack among those that had to be pulled. However, September and October are promising to see the expo world roar back into life.

PacPrint in Melbourne will run from 28 September to 1 October, and with the local population all scheduled to have received the vaccination by then, there will be little danger of it not going ahead. It will be the first oportunity for local printers to see the latest technology for 18 months, with vendors already lining up new releases for the show floor.

Major global shows Labelexpo in Brussels, Fespa in Amsterdam and Print in Orlando are all scheduled for late September early October, although, whether Aussie and Kiwi printers will be able to travel overseas by then is a big unknown.
