DuPont Cyrel ReNew flexographic plate technology, made with more than 50 per cent renewable content, received the Sustainability Excellence Award at the FTA FORUM INFOFLEX 2026 banquet in Milwaukee, US, on 26 April.

The Cyrel ReNew plates use more than 50 per cent ISCC PLUS-certified bio-circular raw materials in the photopolymer, reducing reliance on virgin fossil-based resources. The company says the plates are built on a mass balance approach, providing traceability of renewable inputs across the value chain and aligning with circular economy principles.

According to DuPont Cyrel Flexographic Solutions, the Cyrel ReNew series supports a shift away from fossil-based raw materials while maintaining the performance standards required for packaging printing.

Cyrel ReNew LSH is the first product in the range. It incorporates LED exposure technology from Cyrel Lightning and uses mass balance methodology to reduce the product’s carbon footprint. The company says the plate is a drop-in solution that delivers the same print performance as conventional Cyrel Lightning LSH plates.

DuPont says Cyrel ReNew LSH plates can deliver a 15 per cent lower product carbon footprint compared with fossil-based plates, equivalent to a saving of around 83kg CO2e per box of 10 plates.

Serena Stephenson, director of innovation at DuPont Cyrel Flexographic Solutions, said the recognition “marks another meaningful milestone” and reflects the team’s focus on reducing environmental impact while maintaining “quality, consistency, and reliability”.

Stephenson also pointed to the company’s Cyrel FAST thermal system and recent GreenCircle certification as part of its broader sustainability work.

Tucker Norton, vice-president and general manager at DuPont Cyrel Flexographic Solutions, said the award reflects the company’s “commitment to providing a more sustainable future in the packaging printing industry”.

He added that demand for more sustainable solutions is increasing, and technologies such as Cyrel ReNew are intended to support customers and brand owners seeking greater transparency and environmental accountability.
