Operating out of Kingaroy in regional Queensland, the business – which is currently celebrating its 25th anniversary – installed the new Horizon finishing equipment to increase its productivity and capabilities.

Andrew Nichols, founder and managing director of the business, said, “Our previous Horizon system has been a great performer for us over the years. I had no hesitation in turning to Currie Group for Horizon again when we needed to upgrade. The engineering quality is suited to industrial production, and the software means the equipment is easy to operate.

“The Horizon equipment gives us a lot of flexibility. We like to produce all our work inhouse, our clients appreciate the quality control and turnaround times we give them.”

The new Horizon 200L replaces an older SFP 11 system, while the two new VAC-1000 collating towers double the capacity over the previous system, enabling Nichols to handle jobs up to 80 pages in one pass.

The existing Horizon VAC-100 tower will now be redeployed within the business, to deal exclusively with its NCR trade work, which comes from all over Queensland and interstate.

The company is now the only printer in Kingaroy, and is seeing its business grow. It runs both offset and digital, putting in an SRA3 five-colour offset press two years ago.

Nichols said, “We look after our customers, we make it happen, we deliver on our promises. The strategy is appreciated by the market. The new Horizon kit will enable us to continue to meet the evolving needs of the market.”

The company has invested more in the last five years than ever before, Nichols said, “I want to know that our customers can rely on our equipment.”

Michael Mostyn, QLD sales account manager for Currie Group said, “Nichols Printing is another fantastic regional Queensland success story. With the reliability, speed and flexibility the new Horizon 200L bookletmaker provides, Andrew and his team can continue to build on their success.”
