Mimaki has launched its new hybrid UV printer, the UJ330H-160, expanding the capabilities of its flagship 330 Series.

The UJ330H-160 originates from Mimaki’s aim to simplify production by combining roll-to-roll capability with rigid board printing in one system.

For Australian printers, the UJ330H-160 delivers operational advantages like the ability to diversify applications without expanding floor space, bring rigid production in-house, and reduce outsourcing reliance.

“The UJ330H-160 represents a significant step forward for hybrid production. We’re looking forward to demonstrating its capabilities across upcoming events once the printer officially lands in Australia,” Kohei Kobayashi, managing director of Mimaki Australia, tells Print21.

“Our 330 Series has been recognised globally for exceptional image quality and production output. With the UJ330H-160, we extend those strengths to a hybrid platform that allows for the production of both roll and rigid applications on one machine.

“For many businesses where floor space and capital investment must be carefully considered, this printer removes the need for multiple devices.”

Designed to switch seamlessly between roll and rigid, the UJ330H-160 enables businesses to consolidate production across short run packaging, retail displays, labels, window films, and fabric applications.

A newly developed belt transport system is introduced to ensure stable media handling for tissue thin paper stock and fabrics, reducing common issues such as creasing and misfeeding.

“Rigid production in Australia has traditionally required mounting, outsourcing or dedicated flatbed equipment,” added Jason Hay, national sales manager at Mimaki Australia.

“The UJ330H-160 changes that equation. With its auto-vacuum system and front and rear lock rollers, businesses can confidently run large screen board panels or thick foam boards in-house.”

At the core of the printer is a high-density, high-definition print engine delivering consistent solids, smooth gradients and premium finish quality at production speeds of up to 14.0m²/h.

Automated adjustment functions further simplify operation, allowing consistent output without the need for highly specialised training.

The UJ330H-160 also incorporates UV inks formulated without SVHC and CMR substances, supporting safer workplace standards and alignment with stringent environmental expectations.

Integrated workflow tools, including RasterLink7 RIP software for multilayer and high-build effects, gloss and matte finishes, alongside the PICT cloud-based monitoring platform, provide end-to-end visibility from production through to management.

By combining roll and rigid capability with production speed, safety-conscious ink formulation and streamlined workflow integration, the UJ330H-160 positions local businesses to respond more competitively to demand across retail, construction, events and display graphics.

“This is about giving Australian print businesses the flexibility and efficiency they need to grow sustainably. The UJ330H-160 empowers them to do more with less complexity and to remain competitive in a rapidly evolving market,” Kobayashi concludes.
