Cost plus is a terrible way to price printing, yet it continues to be the industry's preferred method, says Print21 editor-at-large Patrick Howard, who assesses better ways to price.

Adding a margin to the cost of production takes no account of market conditions, the intrinsic value of the printed product, or the importance it has for the customer.
