The customers will be selected by a panel that will look at all nominees and asses who will best benefit from the brand refresh.

The company is running the promotion around the world, with 99 winners in all. The competition comes on the back of research by Vistaprint showing the sacrifices business owner operators had made over the Covid year.

Marcus Marchant, Vistaprint ANZ managing director said: “Our core customer sector of SMEs has had a tough year. The promotion is aimed to show them the power of print, and how Vistaprint can help them.

“We know how powerful great design can be in fuelling success for small business owners, but our research shows it is often an area small Aussie businesses struggle with. Matching entrepreneurs with the right creative talent is where the magic happens when it comes to building a brand and growing a business. Through 99 days of design, we’re excited to support businesses in this space and help them on their road to recovery, sharing these stories of global creative connection and collaboration with the world.”

The survey conducted by Vistaprint revealed the extent of sacrifices made by small business owner operators. Top personal sacrifices made include reducing the amount of takeaways (62%), dipping into hard earned savings (60%), cutting back on key grocery items (50%) and scrimping to reduce utility bills (48%).

Approximately two in five took on additional work, and one in five borrowed a significant amount of money from a friend or family member. Only five per cent remortgaged their house, with a similar number putting off having kids.

On a positive note 71 per cent believe their sacrifices have been worth it, or will pay off in the long run.

Small business nominations will be open from 15 June and close at midnight (AEST) on 25 June 2021. A panel including Vistaprint CEO Marcus Marchant, 99designs by Vistaprint CEO Patrick Llewellyn, alongside entrepreneurs Twice Blessed and artist Rachael Sarra, will help select the six successful businesses. Those wanting to get involved can nominate themselves or be nominated by someone else via vistaprint.com.au/mlp/99-days-of-design.

Marchant said he could “neither confirm nor deny” that one of the new HP Indigo 100K non-stop digital presses, ordered by parent Cimpress, was on its way to the Deer Park production centre in Melbourne, saying only “watch this space”.

He said: “What I can say is Vistaprint in Australia is a strong position for growth. We are investing in new technology, we are offering a range of new printed products, and we have just put 20 new products online.”
