The Visual Media Association (VMA), in collaboration with PrintNZ, and supported by Konica Minolta, will host a breakfast event to unpack new insights into New Zealand's shifting consumer behaviours and highlight how print businesses can leverage the “power of print in a digitally fatigued world”.

The exclusive industry breakfast, titled Hot Off the Press: Why Print Still Reigns, is open to print, visual media, and marketing professionals, and will be held at the Konica Minolta Showroom in Penrose, Auckland on Wednesday 23 July from 7:30-8:45am NZST.

The event will feature a dynamic keynote by Kellie Northwood, CEO of the VMA, who will unveil fresh research commissioned jointly by the Association and PrintNZ.

“This is more than a research launch – it’s a wake-up call. Our findings clearly show that New Zealanders continue to trust and prefer print when communicating with brands and retailers,” said Northwood.

“From household decision-making, to retail and government communications, consumers are pushing back against digital fatigue and welcoming tangible, credible print media – now is the time to sell print with confidence.”

Backed by quantitative data and behavioural insights, the session will explore:

  • The resilience of print across business sectors;
  • Why trust in traditional media is rising;
  • How to sell print effectively in a disrupted and increasingly digital-first market;
  • The environmental edge of print – debunking myths and presenting facts; and
  • The sensory power of embellishments and tactility in building brand recall.

“This is about arming our industry with the insights and tools to thrive,” continued Northwood. “The print channel is powerful, and it is up to us to tell that story convincingly; this session helps do exactly that.”

The research was undertaken in collaboration with PrintNZ, who surveyed Kiwis in both regional and metropolitan locations earlier this year.

“Having up-to-date data to support what we already know – that print is both effective and sustainable – gives us the perfect platform to promote print from a position of strength. We’re looking forward to sharing these insights with our members,” commented Ruth Cobb, CEO of PrintNZ.

With limited spaces available, this fast-paced, insight-rich breakfast is designed to spark conversation, build capability, and connect leaders across New Zealand's print and marketing sectors.

“At Konica Minolta, we’re proud to partner with the VMA and PrintNZ to shine a spotlight on print’s unmatched ability to cut through digital noise,” said Eric Holtsmark, managing director at Konica Minolta New Zealand.

“Hot Off the Press: Why Print Still Reigns brings the latest NZ consumer insights that reaffirm the trust, tangibility and sensory appeal only print can deliver – empowering our industry to convert digital fatigue into opportunity and drive real-world impact.”
