Some 50 0r 60 women in the print industry were at the Brisbane event, arriving to coffee, tea and orange mamosas, with retiring Women in Print chair Susan Heaney of Heaney’s Performers in Print introducing the event, and discussing statistics showing how women in print compared with women in business in conditions, pay and positions.

Heaney then introduced the new patron for Queensland, Morag Pugh, from QLM Labelmakers, who expressed her excitement at taking a leadership role within the association.

The group then had a delicious breakfast while main speaker Lisa Smith from Minds at Work discussed beneficial ways of approaching all levels of ideas in the workplace and in life. Smith talked on ‘learning how to think differently’, aiming to empower the attendees to approach challenges in a different way, “by unlocking our innate creativity to solve complex problems simply.” She highlighted how the dynamic that the more expert we become in the way things are, best practice, it becomes harder to see how things could be, next practice.
