Online graphic design platform founders Melanie Perkins and Cliff Obrecht are now the tenth wealthiest people in Australia, with all their money coming in just the past 10 years.

Rich lister: Melanie Perkins

With an estimated wealth of $7.98bn the duo are just behind property magnate Frank Lowy in the AFR rich list. Visy chairman Anthony Pratt is the fourth richest person in the country, with a net worth of $20bn.

Perkins is the nation’s second richest woman, but has a long way to go to get ahead of the richest, resources and agriculture champion Gina Rinehart, who is currently worth $31bn, which in fact makes her the richest person in Australia.

Canva was founded by three friends from Melbourne in 2012, with trio Cameron Adams, Cliff Obrecht and Melanie Perkins now all billionaires. The company now has 60 million monthly active users, which is 10 per cent more than six months ago, and has 500,000 paying teams using its service.

It is now valued at more than Woolworths and Telstra, and the same as mining giant Fortesque, and is on its way to becoming Australia's most successful tech start-up.
