Kicking off the new year in style, the latest issue is packed with valuable information, written and presented by industry experts, who come with a deep knowledge of the dynamics of local and international print.

“As I talk to printers around the country, and across the Tasman, it is clear the Print21 community is active, is engaged and is thinking about the way forward”, says Print21 editor Wayne Robinson, “and our aim with every issue with Print21 – and the first issue of the new year is no exception – is to provide information of substance to help those print businesses in their decision making.”

The first Print21 of the new year has a focus on wide format printing, still one of the biggest areas of growth opportunity for commercial, franchise and of course display printers. The cover story is on Durst with its new wide format 2.0 high speed print systems. The section contains an opening feature on wide format opportunities, and then highlights some of the leading systems on the market.

The Printer Profiles section has an exclusive analysis of the Ovato restructure, and an in-depth look at Industrial Print Co in Lithgow, which was the home of the LIA Heidelberg apprentice of the year winner. It also has a feature by publisher Lindy Hughson on Impact International, and the new forest it has bought to enable its brand-owner customers to offset the carbon footprint of their packaging.

One of the big new opportunities emerging in print is digital corrugated, with a host of big name developers launching new solutions for inkjet printing. Print21 has the industry’s only researched feature into the new market, and the only analysis of the runners and riders. We take an in-depth look at the Hanglory system available through Kissel + Wolf, and we look at short-run cutting options, with the Zünd flatbed cutter.

Printing is one of the pillars of progress, and this issue of Print21 has a special report from editor-at-large Patrick Howard on the power of printed books to make a difference among indigenous communities, and looks at the people behind the drive to bring books to country.

With all the regular industry columnists, including our legal eagle, mental health advocate, and associations, plus a look at who has been moving and shaking in print over the new year period, this month’s issue of Print21 is a must read for print business owners and managers everywhere.
