The Australian Sign & Graphics Association (ASGA) has formed a strategic alliance with the International Sign Association (ISA), significantly expanding the professional development, research access, and global industry connection available to Australian sign businesses.
Under the agreement, all eligible ASGA general/sign company members will automatically receive ISA membership with no additional membership dues required, unlocking access to ISA’s extensive education, research and industry resources.
Some of these benefits include:
- ISA member rate access to webinars, on-demand learning and over 60 online courses;
- Free entry to the ISA International Sign Expo and discounted seminar pricing;
- Access to ISA virtual events, newsletters and industry updates;
- Member rate access to ISA and Sign Research Foundation (SRF) research; and
- Permission to use ISA marks to identify their business as an ISA Alliance Partner member.
“ASGA formalised the alliance with ISA to give members broader access to high‑quality industry training, research, and global insights that complement – rather than replace – Australian standards and requirements,” Damian Nielsen, vice-president, member and events manager at ASGA, tells Print21.
“The goal was to lift member value, strengthen ASGA’s position as the specialist authority for the Australian sign and graphics sector, and connect the industry to international developments in materials, technology, digital signage, and market trends. The partnership expands what ASGA can offer without increasing membership costs.”
Mick Harrold, president of ASGA, added that the partnership represents a major step forward for the Australian signage sector.
“This alliance gives our members direct access to the world’s largest sign association. ISA’s training, research and global insights are second to none, and we’re thrilled to bring that value directly to the Australian sign Industry,” he said.
Through the alliance, ASGA members will gain access to structured industry training that supports skills development across design, production, digital, and business operations (excluding safety standards, which remain governed by Australian requirements).
Members will also get better visibility of global trends and research, helping businesses make more informed decisions about materials, sustainability, and customer expectations.
According to Nielsen, the partnership strengthens ASGA’s commitment to delivering practical, high value benefits to members.
“Members gain the most value from ISA’s training pathways, research, and industry intelligence, along with the credibility of being aligned with the world’s largest sign association,” he continued.
“Australian businesses will benefit particularly from insights into digital signage adoption, sustainability practices, material innovation, urban wayfinding research, and emerging international trends. These help local companies stay competitive, anticipate change, and operate with greater strategic clarity – while still applying Australian safety and compliance standards.
“Our industry is evolving fast, and access to world class training and research is critical. This alliance opens the door to a broader range of training and research materials, adding depth to the resources available to Australian sign businesses, without adding to their membership costs.”
The alliance also reinforces ASGA’s role as the national body representing the interests of the Australian sign and graphics industry.
“We’re focused on giving our members every advantage – whether that’s IR support, training, safety, or now, international industry access. This partnership with ISA is another strong step in that direction,” Nielsen concluded.
ASGA will update the Member area of its website in coming days to provide access to these new services, and will continue to communicate ISA opportunities, resources and updates directly to members as new programs and resources become available.
