Russell Cavenagh has stepped down as Mutoh Australia’s managing director, with Romano Bacci appointed in his place, reinforcing the company’s commitment to quality, reliability, and long-term support for the ANZ print markets.

Bacci assumes the role with a strong focus on industry engagement, customer outcomes, and sustainable growth. He will lead Mutoh Australia’s strategic direction, working closely with dealers and customers across the signage, graphics, textile, and industrial print sectors.

As part of this leadership transition, Cavenagh will move into a new role within the business as general manager for Special Projects, where he will focus on key strategic initiatives and support ongoing Mutoh business development.

Bacci is an experienced business leader within the technology and print equipment distribution sector, with a strong focus on customer driven growth, channel development, and operational performance.

He brings a practical, market led approach to leadership, working closely with dealer networks and end users to align products, service, and support with the commercial realities of the print industry.

Bacci is also deeply aligned with the values and standards of Mutoh’s Japanese parent company, renowned globally for its precision engineering and manufacturing excellence.

He places strong emphasis on the core strengths associated with Japanese manufacturing – quality, reliability, consistency, and long term product support – ensuring these principles are clearly reflected in Mutoh Australia’s local operations and customer experience.

With a strong understanding of the ANZ markets, Bacci is recognised for building collaborative teams, strengthening partner relationships, and driving sustainable business outcomes.

As managing director of Mutoh Australia, he will be focused on reinforcing the company’s position as a trusted supplier of Japanese engineered and manufactured wide format printing technology, supported by responsive local service and a long-term commitment to the print industry.

“Mutoh’s Japanese heritage is built on engineering excellence and long-term product integrity,” explained Bacci.

“My priority is to ensure those values are clearly reflected in how we support the local market – through reliable technology, strong dealer partnerships, and responsive service that helps print businesses operate with confidence.”

Mutoh Australia operates as part of the global Mutoh Group, (now owned by Brother International) headquartered in Japan and internationally recognised for its precision engineering and manufacturing standards.

Mutoh’s wide format technology remains the only brand designed and manufactured in Japan, with an emphasis on accuracy, durability, and consistency – qualities that continue to underpin the brand’s reputation worldwide.

Mutoh Australia will continue to invest in technical capability, after sales support, close collaboration with its dealer network, while maintaining strong alignment with its Japanese parent company’s manufacturing and quality standards.

The appointment signals Mutoh Japan’s intent to build on its established market position by combining Japanese engineered technology with locally focused leadership and support.
