CENTRUM CELEBRATES 25 YEARS

Trade display print operation Centrum is celebrating 25 years in business, with the company moving to become an end-to-end service operation.

The company is still looking ahead, it has just invested in a new Fujifilm Acuity Prime, its first digital flatbed, which will complement its two giant KBA offset presses, and says CEO Craig Elvin, Centrum will be investing strongly over the next 12 months.

Elvin said, “We are able to handle the full job, from artwork, to print, to die-cut, fold, glue, to pack, to distribute. Our investments are all aimed at creating greater efficiencies, for instance we have just installed pump gluing rather than stick gluing, to reduce our per unit cost, and to increase output.”

“We brought in the Fujifilm flatbed for short-run work, it is economic for runs in the hundreds, while the two KBAs handle the longer run lengths. We have clear plans over the next year for areas to invest in, and we will be making those investments.”

Owned by Percy Vij, and beginning as a commercial printer in Alexandria, before reinventing itself a decade ago as a large format and trade display print business, and moving to a 3000sqm site in Chipping Norton, it equipped itself with first one, then two, large format KBA presses. Centrum has since established itself as one of the country’s leading trade POS and display print operations. Vij’s son Alex is now part of the business, which serves printers nationwide.

Elvin said, “POS and retail displays are still winning strategies for brands. Off location displays are still the most effective impulse buy vehicle for FMCG products, and at Centrum we want to continue to support Australian companies and Australian Made products.  Centrum is able to work with agencies and printers to enable them to provide great solutions for their clients.”

Centrum is planning a number of initiatives throughout 2024 to celebrate its 25 year anniversary in Australian print.
