Ricoh has been reappointed by leading Australian printer CMYK Colour Online for an additional five-year term as the company’s printer vendor of choice.

The renewal, the first undertaken by CMYK Colour Online with a printer vendor, follows a successful five-year partnership during which Ricoh supported the firm’s rapid growth.

Established in 2007, CMYK is an Australian-owned printing company that delivers a diverse range of print outputs to business and consumer customers.

Headquartered in Moorabbin, Victoria, CMYK accepts online orders and delivers nationwide, ensuring convenient access to its services across Australia. Product offerings include everything from cards, flyers and postcards to stationery, booklets, and magazines.

According to David Kegen, director of CMYK, the decision to renew the partnership for an additional five years was driven by the quality of Ricoh’s printers and its exceptional after-sales support.

“We have developed a very good working relationship with Ricoh during the past five years,” said Kegen.

“During that time, their printers have performed extremely well, allowing us to maintain the quality of outputs that our client base expects. We have also been very impressed with their level of service which ensures our printers are always fully functional.”

When the company began its relationship with Ricoh, it deployed three Pro C9210 digital colour printers and one Pro 8220S high-volume multi-function black-and-white printer. This fleet enabled the company to increase its output levels and grow its revenue base.

Under the new contract, CMYK will be deploying two Pro C9500 machines with added productivity kits and a Pro C7500 with a fifth colour press for gold, silver, clear and white printing.

In addition to boosting overall production capacity, the Pro C9500 machines will enable CMYK to print at speeds of up to 135 pages per minute and support a wide variety of media types – including metallics, super gloss finishes, textured stocks, and cardstocks.

Among the new features is the ability to print a white base layer followed by full-colour overlays, enabling more vibrant and opaque results on dark or transparent media. This is particularly useful when printing onto plastic substrates and producing outputs such as stickers and labels.

“This will improve our redundancy and ensure we have the capacity to handle peak demand periods without compromise,” Kegen explained.

“The firm anticipates efficiency gains of 10 to 20 per cent with the new Ricoh machines, thanks to their ability to seamlessly handle jobs requiring different paper stocks without pausing. Earlier models had to cool down or warm up their toner reserves before they could tackle a new job.”

Kegen said that during the past five years, the Ricoh machines have allowed the company to grow its portfolio of offerings and maintain the “very high-quality outputs” that its customers have come to expect.

“We find that nothing is ever too hard for Ricoh. For example, at one point we were reorganising our workshop and needed to move the position of the machines,” added Kegan.

“While this would have cost a significant amount with some of our previous vendors, Ricoh completed the work free of charge.

“We look forward to working closely with Ricoh during the next five years as they continue to support our growing business.”

The new machines will be deployed from mid-December this year, and one of the existing Pro C9210 printers will be retained.
