Epson has been named among The 2025 Asia IP Elite by global intellectual property publication Intellectual Asset Management (IAM), marking the 11th consecutive year the company has received the recognition.
The Asia IP Elite list highlights companies across the Asia-Oceania region that demonstrate strong performance in intellectual property value creation, based on IAM’s annual assessments. In 2025, 101 organisations were selected, with the awards presented during the IPBC Asia 2025 event.
According to IAM, Epson’s selection reflects the strength and depth of its patent portfolio, particularly in inkjet and piezo technologies, where the company holds leading positions in Japan, the United States and China. The company also maintains a strong intellectual property presence in adjacent technology areas including projection and robotics.
Epson has structured its intellectual property activities around a five-level value hierarchy, designed to align IP development with broader business objectives. The company has reached Level 4 of this framework, where intellectual property is fully integrated with business strategy, and is now working towards Level 5, which focuses on accelerating innovation and reinforcing brand value.
Beyond traditional approaches such as cross-licensing and anti-counterfeiting, Epson is increasingly using its intellectual property to support open innovation initiatives and collaboration with startups, positioning IP as a driver of co-creation rather than solely protection.
IAM’s Asia IP Elite program recognises organisations that embed intellectual property strategy into their core operations and actively use IP to create long-term corporate value.
