Written by the industry’s experienced print business journalists, and as the official media of the VMA, Print21 stands alone in its presentation of credible relevant information to the industry, proving indispensable in these changing times.

With the environmental credentials of print now a major marketing opportunity the first issue of the year features the new swatch kits for 2025 from Spicers, which showcase the paper supplier’s commercial print and digital media ranges, and its strong environmental credentials.

The special focus of the JanuaryFebruary issue is the revolution in print technology. Inkjet is fast becoming a major process, and writing in the issue Ralf Schlözer – technology analyst for the printing industry – says inkjet printing technology is enabling print businesses to service a rapidly growing number of markets.

The rapid developments in print are shown where the latest B2 inkjet presses, SRA3 digital presses, and B1 offset presses are featured, highlighting the remarkable number of applications and the impressive efficiencies that are now available.

And when it comes to paying for the dazzling machines on offer the feature by Finlease on the return of the Operating Lease will cause plenty of thought.

We preview the Hunkeler Innovationdays, being held at the end of February in Switzerland, where international print industry event will be focused on high-performance digital printing and finishing.

The printer profile feature in this issue features Marrickville-based Carbon8, one of the new breed of printing companies that arrived in the market in the early years of the century as digital printing matured sufficiently to be a viable commercial proposition. It is now one of the foremost contemporary printing companies in Sydney, with a very different operating strategy from traditional businesses. Patrick Howard went along to discover the dynamics.

The JanuaryFebruary issue’s display print section features the major awards event and the winning entries, and the latest news from the sector, including a look at the new crop of print systems released by Mimaki.

With PacPrint25 quickly approaching and exhibitors locking in space for the show, the organisers thought it was time to assess trade shows across the globe, and look at how it can drive the best results from its stands, for the exhibitors and printers to get the most out of the events and activities, and penned a feature for Print21.

As barriers to women in the industry are rapidly fading, Sonia Schwabsky, CEO of print franchise group Kwik Kopy, says becoming a franchisee can empower women on their journey of print business ownership.

The issue is rounded out by regular columnists Kellie Northwood from VMA, writing on the growing costs of business compliance, and Ruth Price from PrintNZ on the year to come. And with our People in Print stories to finish the issue, the latest Print21 will give all print business owners and managers the relevant, credible, substantive information they need.
