IMPRESSU INSTALLS HP INDIGO 15K AND CANON COLORADO M-SERIES
Impressu Print Group has ramped up its production power by installing a new B2 HP Indigo 15K HD Digital Press and a new Canon Colorado M-series wide format printer, both supplied by Currie Group.
With a turnover of $33m, the Brendale-based business is one of the largest printers in Queensland, it has 85 staff working a triple shift, producing campaigns, general commercial, POS and display print.
Tony Dooley, general manager at Impressu said, “The new HP Indigo 15K replaces our ten-year-old Indigo 10000, which has been great for us over a long period of time. The 15K though has increased our capacity significantly, thanks to its increased efficiency, and features such as EPM three-colour printing.”
Impressu was one of the first print businesses in Australia to install the B2 HP Indigo 10000, back in 2015, which has been running continually ever since.
Impressu assessed the whole B2 digital market before making its decision to invest again with HP Indigo. Dooley said, “We went through an extensive due diligence, before coming down in favour of the HP Indigo 15K. It is a great fit for us. The quality and productivity are outstanding. We have also had an excellent relationship with Currie Group for many years, benefitting from the Currie Care programme, which we wanted to maintain.”
Michael Mostyn, QLD sales account manager for Currie Group said, “At Currie Group, we’re not just about selling equipment. We’re about building long-term partnerships. Impressu’s ongoing success is something we’re proud to be a part of, and our Currie Care support ensures they get the most out of their technology every day.”
The company also runs an HP Indigo 7800 SRA3 digital press, which it has had for the past seven years. In addition, it has two multi-colour offset presses.
At the same time as it installed the new HP Indigo 15K, the company also installed a new Canon Colorado wide format printer, its first Canon. Dooley said, “We opted for Colorado because of the quality it produces. In addition, its compact footprint and productivity are suited to our environment.”
Mostyn said, “Impressu’s investment in both the 15K and the Colorado is a clear signal of its confidence in the future of high-quality digital and wide format print. These installations aren’t just about equipment – they are about unlocking new opportunities, and expanding Impressu’s ability to deliver on its promises.”
Dooley said, “The installation of the Colorado has resulted in a dramatic improvement in quality and has made an immediate positive impression on our clients.”
The new Canon Colorado has joined an EFI Vutek at Impressu to produce its POS and display work, with the Colorado becoming the primary print unit. According to Michael Mostyn the Canon Colorado M-series is “a game-changer.” He said, “It brings high-quality production together with an efficient output, it fits seamlessly into Impressu’s 24 hour production model and immediately makes an impact.”
Both the HP Indigo 15K and the Canon Colorado will become part of the 24-hour-a-day operation at Impressu, which works for a range of clients in commercial and display print.
The company was established in the 1990s by former Wallabies rugby captain Rod McCall, and then acquired by the Domino’s pizza chain in 2017. It prints all the campaign work for Domino’s, with work for the chain now accounting for 45 per cent of its jobs, down from 60 per cent eight years ago, as the company has grown its external side of the business.
Impressu prints campaigns for several other franchise groups as well, including the likes of Highgrove Bathrooms, Michael Hill Jewellers and Caltex service stations. It prints campaigns that run in Australia, New Zealand and Canada.
It also has long-standing commercial clients such as the Racing Club of Brisbane, Brisbane City Council and the Mater Hospital, and is a major printer in the sporting sector.
Dooley said, “We have a good model for the big groups, and for general commercial clients, and are seeing new clients come on board. The new HP Indigo 15K and Canon Colorado will enable us to continue to go to market with complete confidence in our ability to produce the best commercial and POS print on the market.”
Both machines are now up and running, Dooley said, “The implementation team from Currie Group did an amazing job, installation of the new HP Indigo 15K was just six days, it was phenomenal service.”
