Melbourne commercial printer, Ezprint, has hit the skids, entering voluntary liquidation following a general meeting of company members last Friday (15 August), halting all work and terminating employment for all staff.
A letter to staff members from company director, Daniel Mayson, stated: “Unfortunately, despite our best efforts, we have reached a point where the business can no longer continue”.
“Due to a combination of external and internal pressures, we are left with no viable option but to close our doors. This difficult decision was not made lightly. I have explored every possible avenue to keep things going, but ultimately, the circumstances have proven too great to overcome.”
In the same letter it says that staff will all receive their “full and proper entitlements, including wages, annual leave, and redundancy pay if applicable”.
Paul Anthony Allen and Glenn Jeffrey Franklin were appointed liquidators for the Pakenham-based printer earlier this week.
The company's website is still online, but all phone lines lead to "staff unavailable" messages.
UPDATED: Ez Print employees Print21 has spoken to reportedly had no warning that the company was going to close. They were issued with an unsigned, undated letter offering assurances around payment of wages and entitlements, ahead of the company going into liquidation. Print21 has obtained a copy of the letter.
New information has subsequently emerged, with Print21 sources citing less than ideal working conditions at Ez Print prior to its closure, with many staff unhappy with the situation.
Staff are also still waiting on the payments owed, along with entitlements, despite the Ez Print letter stating these would be made in due time.
