Mimaki Australia’s exclusive dealer launch of the UJ330H-160 hybrid UV printer drew a strong industry turnout, and positioned the new machine as a potential game changer in performance, versatility, and design.
Taking lead for the demonstration was Jason Hay, national sales manager at Mimaki Australia, who demonstrated the new features of the printer to a room full of industry partners from Ball & Doggett, Graphic Art Mart, Pozitive, Spicers Australia and Spandex Australia.
Expanding the capabilities of its flagship 330 Series, the UJ330H-160 is designed to switch seamlessly between roll and rigid, enabling businesses to consolidate production across short run packaging, retail displays, labels, window films, and fabric applications.
“The Mimaki UJ330H-160 marks a real shift in how sign and display producers approach hybrid UV printing. Rather than sitting between roll-to-roll and flatbed systems, it brings both capabilities together in a compact platform,” Kohei Kobayashi, managing director of Mimaki Australia, tells Print21.
“On one hand, this helps businesses tackle print production by improving efficiencies, and on the other hand it expands capabilities and applications for businesses that may have only really have had the room, or the budget, to do one or the other.”
Equipped with high-density and high-definition 330 Series print heads in a staggered configuration, the UJ330H-160 delivers consistent solids, smooth gradients and premium finish quality at production speeds of up to 14.0m²/h.
The new machine incorporates UV inks formulated without SVHC and CMR substances, supporting safer workplace standards and alignment with stringent environmental expectations.
The UJ330H-160 also delivers operational advantages like the ability to diversify applications without expanding floor space, and the machine is also designed to fit through a standard sized door – a game changer for the company.
“In the past, we’ve actually lost some business because we weren’t able to get the machine through a customer’s doors. We’ve now eliminated that problem with its ability to fit through a standard sized door, and this has opened up our target market quite significantly,” Hay explains.
The response from the dealers during the launch was very positive, with a lot of interest and excitement for the new machine.
“Our team are also experiencing much interest from sign makers and commercial printers looking to streamline their setup and expand into a wider range of applications,” Kobayashi adds.
The official public launch of the UJ330H-160 hybrid UV printer will take place in Mimaki’s Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane showrooms over April and May.
