Following the sudden closure of Melbourne-based Ezprint and its entry into voluntary liquidation, Precision Group has reached out to lend its support to the company’s beleaguered staff and customers.
Cory Hall, group CEO of Precision Group, told Print21 the company has approached clients and staff and is currently in contact to offer assistance.
“We have notified clients that we have acquired the customer list from the liquidators. We've now been reaching out to each of them to introduce ourselves and offer our support,” he said.
“There are people on the list that are clients we already shared with Ezprint, some we knew through mutual relationships, and then there’s a whole lot that we've had no dealings with before and are introducing ourselves to for the first time,” Hall said.
Precision Group has also had conversations with a number of the staff members and let them know that there are a couple of jobs available if they are interested, although the main obstacle now seems to be logistical, as Precision Group is located in the Melbourne suburb of Somerton, while Ezprint was located in Pakenham.
“Wherever possible, we’ll try and help the staff, but obviously location is an issue for some, with us being over an hour-and-a-half away,” Hall added.
“But there are already a couple I have heard from that said the location is not an issue, so we’ve offered them roles and are just waiting on their responses on that.”
Ez Print hit the skids earlier this month, officially going into liquidation on 15 August after having its doors shut for about a week prior.
Ezprint employees Print21 has spoken to reportedly had no warning that the company was going to close. They were issued with an unsigned, undated letter offering assurances around payment of wages and entitlements, ahead of the company going into liquidation. Print21 has obtained a copy of the letter.
New information has subsequently emerged, with Print21 sources citing less than ideal working conditions at Ezprint prior to its closure, with many staff unhappy with the situation.
Staff are also still waiting on the payments owed, along with entitlements, despite the Ezprint letter stating these would be made in due time.
At the time of publishing, additional information has come to light which Print21 is investigating and seeking to verify. We will continue to provide updates on this developing story as more comes to light.
