Print industry suppliers on climate tick list
Some of the biggest industry developers and suppliers have made the CDP A list, which evaluates environmental activities and progress of businesses for institutional investors.
Some 12,000 companies were evaluated under three metrics: Climate Change, Forests, and Water Security, and of those just 272 made the A grade.
Those on the A list that work in the commercial print industry include HP, Metsä Board, and Mondi (A List for all three categories); Epson (climate change and water security); Fujifilm and Toray Industries (water security); UPM (forest); Konica Minolta, Kyocera, JCDecaux, Mitsubishi Electric and Ricoh (climate change); and Tetra Pak (climate change and forests).
CDP evaluates companies' environmental activities on behalf of 590 institutional investors worldwide with a combined $110tn in assets. The results of the questionnaires are also used to assess companies in terms of environmental performance for the world's leading socially responsible investment (SRI) indexes used by investors.
The number of companies on the A list dropped from 280 last year, as the bar on climate leadership was raised by CDP.
