PRINTERS CELEBRATE CRAFT AT RMC AWARDS

Printers across the country celebrated their craft and industry at the Real Media Awards, with printers of all shapes, sizes and specialties sharing the success with their clients.

IVE Group celebrated its success in direct mail, print, catalogue and publishing categories each taking home 23 awards. Commercial printers also staked their claim to craftmanship with Press Print Digital, Southern Impact, Pegasus Media and Logistics, Taylor’D Press, Conversify, Gunn & Taylor and Press, Print Digital, Kwik Kopy, Adams Print, VE Print Web Offset and CLL Australia all being recognised with awards of excellence.

Formerly known as the Australasian Catalogue Awards, the 30th Real Media Awards were held in Melbourne, celebrating excellence in letterbox marketing, publishing, direct mail, point of sale and marketing efficacy across Australia and New Zealand.

“The Visual Media Association is an example of the industry coming together, brands, agencies, retailers, printers, publishers and distributors celebrating the work they create in partnership to drive efficacy across the impressive and results-driven media channels we represent – namely print media channels. The Real Media Awards are a testament to this success and a great reflection of our collective philosophy,” said MC Kellie Northwood.

Breen Printing further celebrated a Major Award Finalist for Best Emerging Talent. Jacinta Allen, was recognised for her commitment to team leadership and passion to her role. “Jacinta has taken on the role of developing and producing outstanding work for us across the board. She has been a delight to work with and we couldn’t be prouder of all her accomplishments,” said Kirsty Woodhead, managing director, Breen Printing. Allen said it was an honour to be recognised as an emerging talent in the industry, she said,  “Thank you to everyone at Breen Printing for your encouragement, support and guidance, I couldn’t be here without you. A special congratulations to my managing directors Kirsty and Luke Woodhead.”

Crowned as this year’s Best Emerging Designer award, Courtney Newman of Ball & Doggett was recognised for her ‘best in class’ and consistent quality of work. “I am delighted to be taking home this prestigious award tonight, especially over a pool of strong finalists. A special thanks to my team at Ball & Doggett, the Visual Media Association and everyone involved for their recognition. I’m over the moon,” beamed Newman.

“Courtney brings a positive energy to the broader Marketing team, and commands the respect of all stakeholders across the business and externally. Courtney is to be commended and celebrated for her attitude, work ethic, and for leading by example, setting a high standard for others to aspire to,” said Zaidee Jackson, national business development manager-Sustainable Packaging, Ball & Doggett.

“I send a personal congratulations to everyone at IVE for their resilience and commitment to the organisation. Together our achievements have surpassed all expectations and I’m proud of the collective. I also congratulate the Visual Media Association team for its work in achieving yet another successful awards event, its commitment and passion to the event, and the industry more broadly, is one I’m sure members are grateful for,” commented Darryl Meyer, Chief Executive Officer, Print Web Offset at IVE Group.

Northwood spoke to all of the finalists and winners across Australia and New Zealand. “My absolute congratulations to every printer who participated in the awards this year and to those who enjoyed Finalist and Winner success, with the competition over 350 entries it is indeed an achievement to reach the top five, let alone take home the win. Well done to you all.”

The Real Media Awards is committed to an ‘all-in’ industry approach with the room filled with 340 guests including major retailers, agencies, printers, publishers and distributors all celebrating the event together.

“In the same way printers need our retail, brand and agency clients to achieve what we do, retailers, brands and agencies also need the expertise and talent of their print and mail-house partners to bring their campaigning to life. Together we achieve great outcomes and impressive results – print is a powerful channel and the Awards celebrate this as well as the future of our industry,” commented Northwood.

The Awards were judged by 50 judges across Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland including printers, suppliers, retailers, brands and agency personnel.

Spicers was crowned top packaging design for its ‘Mini Vits Packaging Campaign’. Chemist Warehouse and The Ministry of Chocolate were all finalists in the Packaging category celebrating their successful campaigns this year.

Cyndi Setia, marketing & design manager at Spicers Australia and also team leader on the project said it was an honour to be recognised as Australia and New Zealand’s leading packaging design campaign. “The team at Spicers are excited to take home the prize this year and be recognised by our industry. Our packaging is a central part in our marketing strategy, our clients love them, so it’s brilliant to see our Mini Vits Packaging Campaign shine on an international stage,” Setia commented.
