The federal government has launched an inquiry into the need for printed parliamentary documents in "an increasingly digital and online environment” - the latest move in Malcolm Turnbull's ambitious digital transformation policy.

New Zealand-based Oji Fibre Solutions will build a new $68 million corrugated packaging facility at Yatala on the Gold Coast to supply Queensland, parts of NSW and the NT. The investment reflects a substantial lift in demand for corrugated packaging in Australia, says analyst IndustryEdge.

Reinventing paper

As if paper was not always undergoing reinvention, an Israeli technology company is claiming to have reinvented it. This isn’t really a reinvention of paper, but rather a new recipe for office paper that makes it deinkable using just a laser.

Roland DG says it’s had a positive response to its new finance program that allows printers to install wide format printing technology without any upfront investment. “The Roland Rental Platinum program has so far been well received and initial feedback has been positive."
