As the global print and packaging community converged in Barcelona this week for Labelexpo Europe 2025, Jet Technologies highlighted both the pace of change in the industry and the technologies shaping its future.
For Jet Technologies, Labelexpo was more than a showcase of machinery – it was an opportunity to connect global innovation with the practical needs of the Asia-Pacific market. The company began its European journey with a client tour in Italy, introducing partners to leading label and packaging printers that are pushing boundaries in automation, digitalisation and sustainability.

“These visits give our clients access to world-class operations that set benchmarks in production efficiency and sustainable practice,” said Jack Malki, director of Jet Technologies. “The insights we gather here help ensure that our region doesn’t just keep pace with global trends but can anticipate and prepare for them.”
Screen introduces water-based inkjet innovation
A centrepiece of Jet Technologies’ presence at Labelexpo was the global debut of Screen’s new Truepress Label 520AQ, a water-based inkjet label press designed to deliver offset-class print quality with the productivity of digital.
Running at up to 100 metres per minute with 1200 x 1200 dpi resolution across a 520mm web width, the 520AQ is engineered for high-performance label converting. It uses Screen’s proprietary Truepress SC+ inks and Advanced Ink Amount control system to achieve colour accuracy and image fidelity, supported by an integrated NIR drying unit that handles dense coverage on PP, BOPP and coated papers without pre-treatment.
With VOC-free aqueous inks and energy-efficient drying, the press has been developed to meet rising sustainability standards while opening opportunities in premium markets such as pharmaceutical, agri-chemical and wet-glue applications.
“Converters are under pressure from both ends – brand owners demanding sustainable solutions and consumers expecting high quality at speed,” said Malki. “Technologies like Screen’s water-based inkjet press demonstrate how innovation can address those demands simultaneously, combining sustainability with uncompromised performance.”
Market shifts in focus
According to Jet Technologies, the Asia–Pacific label and packaging sector is undergoing rapid transformation. Printers are seeking solutions that deliver efficiency and flexibility while navigating competitive pressures and shifting consumer demand.
“The conversations we’re having in Barcelona reinforce the sense that our industry is at an inflection point,” Malki added. “Digital is now firmly embedded, but the next frontier is how we integrate sustainability and automation into every investment decision. That’s where our role becomes critical – ensuring that businesses in our region have access to the very latest thinking and technologies.”
In Australia and New Zealand, Screen’s label and packaging portfolio, including the newly launched Truepress Label 520AQ, is sold and supported exclusively through Jet Technologies. Both Jet and Screen GP Australia representatives were on the ground in Barcelona this week, guiding visitors through demonstrations and discussions about the future of label production.
