The new Label Discovery Panther UV inkjet press has a 220mm print width, and runs at up to 50 metres a minute printing CMYK. It is priced at €250,000, (A$396,000) and is available as from now.

Xeikon has launched it to connect with what it says is the growing entry-level segment in digital label printing, as more commercial print business set up a digital labels arm, and as existing label printers look to extend their reach down into the host of new short-run label opportunities.

Filip Weymans, vice-president of global marketing at Xeikon, said, “With our Label Discovery Panther, we have that with an investment level of just €250,000 for an advanced UV inkjet, it’s really something that’s going to be attractive for the industry.”

Weymans also highlighted the cost and energy reduction benefits of Xeikon’s Panther LED inks, and said Label Discovery Panther was, “the most sustainable UV inkjet press on the market”.

The launch was part of a global online event that saw Xeikon outline its vision for the future, which includes the company expanding its technology into multiple new applications, beyond its core markets in labels and packaging.

The company’s food safe Titon toner technology is in beta testing at an Italian company, and the first unit of its Idera single-pass water-based inkjet for corrugated print system is up and running, with full production expected to begin in the second quarter.

Xeikon will be at Fespa showing its wallpaper printing capabilities, before moving on to Labelexpo.
