David Currie marked a significant milestone in the digital march of the commercial printing industry with the announcement of the 10th installation of the groundbreaking HP Indigo 10000 press.
Tom Wagenaar, Port Printing, WA joined Leo Moio, PMG, in signing off on the latest pair of presses following a hugely successful PrintEx show for the largest privately owned graphic arts supplier in the industry. The latest sales brings the number of the B2-size digital presses in Australia and New Zealand to ten.
According to David Currie, it reinforces that the local market has the highest rate of penetration per capita of anywhere in the world for the benchmarking press. "The HP Indigo 10000 has been very successful for us. It meets the requirements of commercial printers for a traditional size press," he said.
Leo Moio's press is already up and running at PMG's Sydney plant; it will soon be joined by a HP T350 high-speed inkjet web at PMG's Melbourne facility. Although not the agent for the inkjet range of HP presses, Currie was pleased to be able to facilitate the deal. "What are mates for?" he laughed. The two presses represent a massive increase in digital firepower for the nationwide printer. A hefty Hunkeler and Horizon finishing presence will complete the installations.
Tom Wagenaar, director of WA’s Port Printing Works also bought his HP Indigo 10000 right off the Currie stand at last month's PrintEx15. He's teaming it with a new Scodix Ultra digital enhancement printer, the third sold by Currie Group at PrintEx.
The HP Indigo 10000 is currently being installed at Port Printing Works in O’Connor, Perth.
“The HP Indigo 10000 has changed the face of commercial printing and continues to be an industry benchmark in terms of quality and speed,” said David Currie, pictured below (r) accepting a Print21 Hot Pick for the Scodix Ultra from Patrick Howard, Print 21. “It has been incredibly well received and its quality levels remain unsurpassed.”
The honour roll for the current complement of HP Indigo 10000 reads like a who's who of go-ahead commercial printers.
