Management buyout team takes former NZ Post business into the winner’s circled with HP Indigo DM.
The Wellington-based digital printing business, Kinetic, scooped the awards on its first outing since returning to private ownership. David Allen the major shareholder in the new business advised that New Zealand Post would remain a key customer of the new business. The 20-year-old business was purchased by NZ Post some ten years ago and the original founders Max McCready and Lisa Thompson are also shareholders in the new entity.
“New technology is now allowing digital printing processes to compete with traditional off-set print. In addition there is now a much greater understanding of the value of versioned or personalized communications,” said Allen. “It’s the variable data skills of Kinetic that is its key point of difference.”
Allen was one of the founders of Datamail that became Datam some 25 years ago. He was part of the team at NZ Post that recently modernized the business with the purchase new technology.
“My work at NZ Post had come to an end and it was time to do something new and for myself,” said Allen. “The 13 gold awards are a great endorsement that the business is on the right track and positioned to take advantage of the on-going growth in digital print.”
