The star of the show when Jet Technologies opens its Sydney showroom on July 25 is now being assembled following an airlift from Japan.
It was a close call when the opening day of the showroom and the arrival of the Truepress Jet L350UV began to drift apart but it all worked out in the end. The latest entrant into the digital label sector is coming together ready to demonstrate its worth to the industry at the Open Day.
According to Peter Scott, managing director of Dainippon Screen Australia, there’s been significant interest in the presses’ arrival in both Australia and New Zealand. “Until now we have lacked a local demonstration machine to run customer trials and demonstrations. Screen and our reseller partner, Jet Technologies, have cooperated to bring this unit here in a working environment, alongside digital finishing equipment. This will be a tremendous boost to the local industry and of course to Jet and Screen as we move forward in the short to medium run digital label sector.”
According to a Screen press release, the L350UV is significantly different to other digital label presses in that it runs at 50 metres per minute across a 350mm web, with a print swathe of 322mm. This delivers 16.1 square metres of full colour, finely printed labels per minute; or 966 square metres per hour. The wide-gamut CMYK inkset has a white ink option for clear substrates and, since curing is by UV light, a wide variety of standard label stocks can be used.
The 600dpi grayscale printheads eject 3 picolitre droplets and, with Screen’s proprietary screening technology, deliver unparalleled smoothness of gradations and skin tones. As a non-impact inkjet digital press, the repeat length is up to an awesome 2.4 metres.
“We are delighted to partner with Jet Technologies to bring this first Truepress Jet L350UV to the region,” says Scott, adding: “We both look forward to presenting it to the industry on July 25th and thereafter.”
The award-winning press was previewed at PacPrint 2013 and officially launched at LabelExpo, Europe last September. It was awarded ‘Best Digital Label Printing Solution’ by the European Digital Press Association (EDP), in May.
