1st two Australian Speedmaster XL105s for Scott Print
Perth printing company steps up to a multi-million dollar deal for Heidelberg flagship presses.

The two presses – a five-colour and a six colour-with coater – represent a watershed in Heidelberg’s engagement with the industry. The Speedmaster XL105, which was released at drupa last year, is the company’s new high-end peak performance commercial and packaging press, designed to introduce a new level of press performance in offset printing.
Joint Managing Director of Scott Print, Dudley Scott (pictured) said the XL105 represented a new direction in press technology. “We have been observing market movement in terms of technology over the past couple of years. The XL105 represents a real breakthrough and that’s what we have been waiting for.”
“We see the press’s coating ability in particular as a real bonus; coating is a big part of Scott’s tradition. Sheet size, speed and colour control are also very impressive features on the new press.”
Scott said the ability to store data on the press ensuring the repeatability of a job was also a factor in the company’s decision to purchase the XL105.
According to Andy Vels Jensen, managing director of Heidelberg Australia and New Zealand (HAN), the sale puts the company well on its way to meeting sales targets. “At the beginning of PacPrint I made the statement that we would in this fiscal year endeavour to sell at least four XL105 presses in the region. Before we have even officially launched this press to the local market, we have now sold two; an indication we will exceed our target and clear recognition of the advantages this new press delivers.”
The XL105-5 colour press was recently installed at Heidelberg’s Sydney PMA showroom where it will remain to enable training and demonstrations. The six-colour coater press is being shipped from Germany and will be installed first at the WA plant.
The new presses will replace the company’s current suite of Speedmaster CD102 presses.
