The final board meeting of Printing Industries held yesterday in Sydney brought the old and the new together. Ron Patterson and Peter Clark, the recently elected board members, joined their future colleagues to review the year.
A high point was the increase in membership that came as a result of extra activity from newly appointed managers in different states. According to Andrew Macaulay, CEO, the increase is a vote of confidence in the new direction of the Association and a sign of its sharper focus on the needs of printing companies. The Board review and applauded the Status Report that was issued to the members by Macaulay during the week.
"It was a very amiable and constructive meeting of the old and new board. The directors were pleased with the evidence of turnaround and increased activity," he said.
Craig Pearce, MD of Launceston printer Flying Colours, who resigned from the board earlier in the year, attended the event and was warmly thanked for his contribution. Alister Henskens, Liberal State Member of Parliament was also there to hear the Association's concerns about energy security for printers in NSW as well the dire state of printing and graphic arts training.
To conclude the Board was addressed by Karen Goldsmith, general manager Visual Connections, on the progress and prospects of PacPrint 2017 in Melbourne next year.
"It's been a very big year for the Association and I'm extremely gratified by the support I've received from the directors. I look forward to an even better year in 2017," said Macaulay.
