The final issue of Print21 for 2016 has rolled off the presses at Sydney's Hero Print, and it's chock full of all the info you need over this holiday season.
The November/December 2016 issue, which is available today on our website and will be distributed in print next week, was produced on a Komori Lithrone G40P HUV offset press at Hero Print's Alexandria facility in Sydney.
Print21's Publishing Editor Patrick Howard, administration and sales guru Emmeline Cannan, and I (Jake Nelson, reporter), toured the Hero Print plant, where an enthusiastic Alex Coulson, national manager Hero Print, showed off the facilities - including the massive state-of-the-art 10-colour Komori Lithrone press, which boasts cutting-edge workflow software and automatic plate changeovers.
The Print21 team watched the pages of the new issue coming off the Lithrone G40P, and we were all impressed by its speed and image quality. "It's one of the most advanced offset presses in the industry. The performance of the UV reinforces its claim to be the future of printing," Patrick Howard said.
The Komori was installed in June, and is kept in its own air-conditioned glass enclosure to ensure dust can't get in - and noise can't get out. The press handles the short-run jobs that are increasingly a staple of the industry. "We know our market and while we’re not the cheapest by any means, we’re very reliable and quality conscious. Our customers come in for press checks and they’re very excited by the new press," Coulson said when Print21 spoke to him about the press earlier this year.
