ACT industry awards turn over a new leaf

After 14 years the organisers of the Canberra awards are seeking to generate refreshed interest in the event and their relevance and importance to the ACT economy. The previous format will be re-engineered to generate more media attention and to attract more entries and attendees from Canberra and the surrounding region.

The awards committee will be working closely with Canberra-based brand consultancy Niche Strategic Brand Communication. The event will be relaunched as the PAGE Awards, with a gala dinner scheduled to take place at The Hyatt Canberra Hotel on Friday 10 November.

Barry Neame, ACT regional manager for Printing Industries, says the revamp will represent the beginning of a new era for the awards night.

“The name stands for print and graphic excellence and aims to capture the imagination both of traditional print and new media professionals in a celebration of the collaborative client, agency, printer and supplier efforts that are required to deliver truly successful projects,” says Neame.

While the traditional award categories will still be offered, the re-vamped PAGE Awards will introduce a range of new categories to reward innovation, environmental responsibility, partnerships and the special achievements of the industry's young people.

As part of the re-engineering process a new corporate identity will form the basis of all PAGE Awards branding. The awards will be hosted by Printing Industries and Australian Graphic Design Association (AGDA) and the organisers promise that new information will be available soon.

Turn on, tune in and drop out at Tasmanian PICAs

Peace, love and a nostalgic return to the 1960s will be the theme of the Tasmanian 2006 PICA awards presentation on Saturday 12 August.

The 60’s style “turn-on, tune-in, drop-out” event will be held in the Tasman Room of Wrest Point Casino from 7pm. Ticket prices have also been kept 'cool' at only $75 per person – no bartering allowed and horticultural produce will not be traded!

The flower power event is designed to be informal and organisers are encouraging attendees to dress '60s style and let their hair down (for those who still have any) to get into the groove for the night.

Bookings can be made by calling the Printing Industries Victorian Regional Office on (03) 8541 7333.
