Acuity finds its first home in Tasmania
Tasmanian company, Typeface Design and Print, installs the state's first Acuity HD 2504.
With a background in prepress, 18-year-old Typeface recently ventured into previously unexplored territory: large format printing. Manager, Dean Kearney, first laid his eyes on the Acuity at Visual Impact in Sydney last year and was impressed by both its photographic reproduction quality and ability to print on most substrates.
"I thought that it would be good for us to be the first in Tasmania to have one," he said. "It has opened up a large market segment that we could not easily deal in before. We've even printed onto house doors."
The installation went smoothly and Kearney notes that the Acuity was up and running on the same day. "The Acuity is perfect for us," Kearney said. "We've been wanting to get into the short-run one-off part of the market and the Acuity allows us to print full-colour onto any substrate in a run of only one or two."
He also credits the Fujifilm Sericol installation team for their help along the way.
Looking back on both the purchase last year and subsequent installation, Kearney is confident that it was the right decision for Typeface to make. "I think the machine is robust and technically very capable of producing any job that you want," he said.
