Agfa ink-jet chief heads up new consultancy firm
SPIKIX is based in the Netherlands, its services targeted towards businesses involved in the integration of single-pass inkjet into industrial production. The company aims to fill what it perceives to be an existing gap in the market, capitalising on providers of industrial inkjet printing who wish to take it to the next level.
A lightning-fast growth in demand is expected for single-pass inkjet printing in the converting and packaging markets, where a number of factors have been identified by Haak as responsible for ramping up the integration of printing at multiple stages in the product supply chain. These include the Just-In-Time systems of major retailers, environmental initiatives aimed at reducing packaging and a demand for customised and region-specific labelling.
Haak claims his company intends on getting in while the iron is hot. “Industrial inkjet printing is approaching the tipping-point,” he says. “Major inkjet technology solution providers emerged with a clear focus on industrial markets, and the inkjet industry now has both the potential for real momentum and access to resources to identify and develop new market initiatives.”
