Agfa is new player in the label press market in ANZ

Agfa has won the agency for Dutch label press manufacturer MPS (Multi Print Systems) and will sell its range of web presses and print systems in Australia and New Zealand.

Aimed at the high-end label market commercial, cosmetic, industrial, wine and pharmaceutical labels as well as flexible packaging and carton board printers, MPS has already installed over 115 presses worldwide. The company was honoured at this year's LabelExpo industry awards in Brussels, winning the 'Label Industry Global Award for New Innovation'.

In addition Agfa has signed up as the distributor in the region for LeoMat controlling, counting and slitting equipment manufactured for self-adhesive labels, foils and paper.

"MPS and LeoMat have product portfolios that cover basic and advanced needs in these markets," explains Nigel Compton, Agfa's packaging and label business manager (pictured on right with MPS managing director Eric Hoendervangers). "Both companies offer a service where they will review the specific needs of an individual customer and, in some circumstances, can engineer special one-off options."

"Agfa has a number of long-term relationships with leading international manufacturers and their success has enabled us to bring a number of quality products to the local market. We are looking forward to a mutually-rewarding partnership with both MPS and LeoMat," he adds.

"Both companies' products fit perfectly with our other high quality offerings, like the
Nyloflex and Nyloprint photopolymer plates from XSYS, or the '100 percent' automatic inspection systems of AVT which can be fitted to either a web press or slitter/rewinder."
