Agfa’s Avalon N puts Highway Press on road to greener pastures

Manager of Highway Press, Tim Smith, makes major investment at PacPrint with Agfa’s new Avalon N Chemistry Free Thermal CTP Engine.

The press, which debuted at PacPrint last week, caught Smith’s attention. Prior to the show, he commenced an extensive trialling process with the plates, and was impressed by the results.

“We chose for the Avalon for two reasons: we’ve had an image centre with agfa for a while and the support you get from their engineers is great; if you’ve got a problem they are always proactive in supporting the printer at ground level and I knew that would continue under the new purchase,” Smith said.

“Secondly, it’s a terrific product that supports our push into the green area; everyone wants to have some sort of green element now and we run vegetable-based inks and citrus-based solvents so this was the next step.”

Installation of the Avalon commences early next week at the Knoxfield-based print company. Smith hopes to have the press up and running by Friday.
