All I want for Christmas ... printers speak
It isn’t long now till Santa leaves the South Pole armed with his swag of goodies. Instead of asking who’s been naughty or nice (because frankly, we don’t want to know the answer) we asked those in the printing industry what they want Santa to bring them this year (not everyone wanted to answer, though. Even the printing industry has its share of bah-humbug). To those with a sense of humour, a disclaimer: if Santa doesn’t deliver, don’t blame us.
Ricky Patten, DataBasics:
I'd like for there to be good rainfall across Australia and no major bush fires. Both for the people/property, but also for those poor creatures that suffer so much in these conditions … and also peace, love and happiness.
Susan Heaney, Heaneys Performers in Print:
Time with my family and friends together over a glass of champagne and
some great seafood … and for this economy to improve for 2011.
Peter Orel, Finsbury Green:
My Christmas wish is Peace Not War.
Robert Doban, Immij NSW:
I would have to say prosperity for the New Year. This industry is very competitive and challenging, so a healthy business flow for the New Year would be ideal – not just for Immij, but the whole industry. Let’s not see any more businesses go broke in the New Year. Prosperity for all.

Barry Langford and Barry Mead (pictured above); printers at GEON, Brisbane:
We both want 60-inch plasma TVs.
Denise Thompson, Lanier Australia:
A new garnet necklace.
Chris Temov, CJ King (pictured):
Apart from a lot of golf lessons and peace on earth, (goes without saying, of course), I would really love to get back to the seriously manic days of 300+ jobs a day. I just loved the excitement and massive buzz. It can't come quick enough.
David Leach, Look Print:
A week (or so) on a yacht without a telephone, email or internet – enjoying good company, lazy breakfasts, exciting days, relaxed reading, time to imagine, lots of laughter, stunning sunsets and an occasional glass of excellent wine.
Theo Pettaras, Digitalpress:
A bass guitar.
Jackie Connor, Digitalpress:
For the weather not to be minus-20 degrees when I travel to New York to meet a relative I found on Facebook.

Kerim El Gabaili, Prografica:
So long as I don't have to sit on anyone's lap, definitely put me down for a skateboard.
Cliff Brigstocke, OPUS Print Group:
With some 400 people now in the OPUS Group, my Christmas wish is that all of our team has a wonderful Christmas with their families. I look forward to again working closely with our team in the New Year, a team that I am proud to be associated with and one that I believe sets a great example in the industry. 2011 promises to be another exciting year as OPUS continues its expansion, particularly into business services for core clients in the advertising/media, government and publishing markets. Our extended service offer is underpinned by IPALM, our proprietary digital asset management system which now reaches across the Asia Pacific region with soon-to-be-announced further global strategic alliances.
Paul Daley, Newlitho:
While Australia's big four banks rapaciously gorge themselves on $22.5billion of Christmas cheer, I'll be toasting the real "banks" of our industry who have stuck by it and believed in us, while surviving on modest and meager incomes and returns. So cheers to our paper, ink, plate suppliers and all the chain of essential services who have enabled the industry to survive post-GFC and raise our glass at the close of 2010! May 2011 bring us all the prosperity we deserve on our investments, technology and talents.
Matthew Murcott, Foilmasters Australia:
Everyone’s Christmas wish is to be on the cover of Print21 of course! Failing that, I'd be happy with a slurpee and a trampoline for Christmas.
[Will this do? Ed]
The Print21 team:

Heidi McCourt:
For the man in the apartment upstairs from me to stop allowing me to catch him in the hallway wearing women's sleepwear ... for the health and happiness of friends and family, for a new macbook pro and for an endless flow of champagne and mince pies on Christmas day.
Mitchell Jordan:
It would be music to my ears if my favourite band, Bluebottle Kiss, ended their hiatus that has gone on for far too long, and if Courtney Love finally toured Australia.
Patrick Howard:
A Canali suit. Not the most expensive in the world, but Italian. Need I say more?
From all of us at Print21/Blueline Media: Merry Christmas!
