:Anapurna Mv opens the door for Print Graphics Displays

A visit to drupa was responsible for transforming Adelaide-based business Print Graphics Displays.

Managers Steve and Karon Hough (pictured below) had been operating Print Graphics Displays since 1988 but until now had always operated as a prepress bureau. For some time, the two had been looking for other avenues to expand into, and once they saw the :Anapurna Mv in action at drupa, they knew it was the answer.

"It was a very solid machine and could do UV varnish," Steve explained. "We came back to Australia and visited some Melbourne sites that were running earlier versions of the :Anapurna and after speaking with them decided to go ahead and purchase it."

The :Anapurna Mv model is unique in terms of being the only machine currently on the market that can apply a UV varnish to a finished printed result. The ability to image full or spot varnishes means that additional services can be offered to printers who are already supplying varnished work using offset technologies.

Print Graphic Displays took advantage of this and were the first Australia installation prior to last month's Visual Impact Image Expo in Sydney.

Steve and Karon found the installation to be a smooth process with few bumps along the way; so smooth that the :Anapurna Mv was up and running in a day-and-a-half. One month later and they continue to be impressed by its capabilities.

"We keep finding more and more things that we can use it for," Steve said.

Some of these include banner work and corporate signs along with printing on the kitchen door in the Print Graphics Displays lunchroom.

The :Anapurna Mv has offered a great point of difference for Steve and Karon's business. It might have seemed like a risk to invest in a new piece of equipment such as the :Anapurna Mv, but Steve believes the decision was worth it. "We were looking for different and after talking to customers realised that something like this was lacking in Adelaide," he said.
