APN beds down with GSA on massive CTP install

The deal includes the installation of two Krause LS Jet 250 CTP systems at the new greenfield newspaper site in Yandina, Queensland, for the Sunshine Coast Daily publication, at as well as three Krause LS Jet Eco CTP systems for the new print facilities in Bundaberg, Rockhampton and Toowoomba.

GSA will be responsible for the CTP supply and installation at all the sites, plus the supply of Fujifilm CTP plates and consumables for three years.

Warren Hinder, newspaper specialist for GSA, says the deal with a major regional newspaper group represents a major vote of confidence in his company’s ability to supply and support comprehensive CTP packages.

“The combination of Krause equipment and Fujifilm consumables offers a number of advantages in terms of production speed, ease of use and low maintenance,” says Hinder. “These are proven systems from leading suppliers in the newspaper market.

“APN carried out exhaustive tests and inspections of the products as well as examining our support capabilities, so the fact that they decided on our solution sends a strong signal to the market that we are a major player.”

Jeff Green, head of group procurement at APN News & Media, says the reliability of the Krause and Fujifilm products, along with the strong local support of GSA, provides an ideal combination for his company.

“We’ve been impressed by the willingness and commitment of GSA to look after our interests,” says Green. “Arrangements such as these are always a matter of partnership between the supplier and customer and we are very comfortable to be working with GSA as our major CTP provider.”

For Intergrafica Print & Pack (IPP), the parent company of GSA, the CTP installation at Yandina represents a massive win following its existing deal to supply a combined MAN Roland REGIOMAN and UNISET pressline.

Installation of the Krause CTP lines will commence immediately, with the rollout to continue throughout 2006. GSA will take on additional technical staff to manage initial installations and provide on-going support to the sites.
