APN set to shine with QuadTech

QuadTech promises a shining future for APN Print Yandina.

The Sunshine Coast-based company publishes newspapers such as The Sunshine Coast Daily, and daily publications including The Gympie Times and Queensland Times. To stay efficient with start up times and waste reductions, APN recently purchased a QuadTech Register Guidance System with MultiCam and a QuadTech Colour Control System.

Greg Carson, general manager of APN said that this new QuadTech equipment, installed on its MAN Roland Regioman and Uniset presses was seen as an integral part of the plant's upgrade.

"The intention of investing in these presses was to improve printing quality and streamline our printing process," he explained.

Since installing the Colour Control System, make-ready times have already been reduced. "Originally, all the fountains on the press would have been adjusted by hand; but now the system automatically calculates and adjusts the fountains at the same time," Carson said. "This is a much more efficient process."

Carson also noted improvements from the Register Guidance System. "The Register Guidance System provides our press operators with greater overall control of the job in hand, allowing them to concentrate on other aspects of the printing process," he said.

"The MultiCam camera has more than proved its worth and stays locked onto marks during tension upsets such as start-ups and splices, automatically making adjustments at full press speeds."
