Art auction launches new PICAs

An art auction featuring Michael Jackson and Marilyn Munroe spearhead the launch of the renamed WorkCover NSW Printing Industry Craftsmanship Awards (PICA).

WorkCover NSW will again be the naming rights sponsor and this year the awards have been renamed to align with the PICA award events around Australia.

Printing Industries CEO Philip Andersen, said he welcomed WorkCover’s commitment to the 2010 event which will be held on Friday 5 November.

“We are launching the 2010 awards with a charity auction of two paintings created by speed painter Brad Blizzard during the presentation dinner in November 2009,” he said.

“The paintings individually feature Marilyn Munroe and Michael Jackson and all proceeds will be donated to the charities of choice by the successful bidders.

“Many of Brad’s paintings have sold for thousands of dollars, so you will be bidding for celebrity paintings created by a celebrity artist,” Mr Andersen said.

Print21 Online will host the auction which will run until 5pm on Monday 8 March and announce the winners in the Wednesday 10 March Print21 Online.

The paintings will be displayed on the Print21 website and auction bids updated as they are received.

All bids should be sent to Mitchell Jordan: mitchell@print21.com.au
