Automated folding and gluing saves 25% on presentation folders -

His company, Nautilus Print Finishing, is a new Sydney-based enterprise providing a unique service to the printing and marketing industries. Delivering fast turnaround, the company can beat any traditional process costs on the finishing production of presentation folders, universally recognised as a difficult task usually requiring laborious hand work.

Drawing on his years of experience as a TAFE offset printing teacher and his time as a senior estimator at Lindsay Yates and Websdale, Warner has devised a machine that can make local production competitive with even the most keen local and international hand-work quotes.

“In the few weeks since opening we’ve done 33 jobs averaging 10,000 copies and saving up to 25 per cent over hand-work rates,” he said. “Most presentation folders produced in Sydney are hand assembled. I went to IPEX last year to check out what machinery was available to do something about it. After researching the market I decided that the equipment available is not suitable for cello jobs and would mark that finish rather badly.

“Hence my concept of a custom-made machine that will glue almost any stock with almost any protective finish and not mark.”

The success of the concept is being proven with every new job and Nautilus Print Finishing is attracting a lot of attention from the industry.
