Bizhub launch brings in the crowds

Launch of bizhub C6000/C7000 in Melbourne marks Heidelberg’s entrance into the digital market.

150 people, including both existing and non-digital users, gathered at Heidelberg’s Notting Hill headquarters last week to see the presses in action. According to Alastair Hadley, general manager sales and marketing for HAN, there was strong interest and a number of leads from the night.

He believes that the strength of the bizhub series is its modularity. “You can start with the basic printing device and add on various finishing and capacity modules as your business model changes. The market is still shaky and our customers might not always want to make major investments in new technology at this time. The ability of equipment to grow with the needs of the business makes it a very attractive proposition for customers,” he said.

“It is quite clear that both technologies are complimentary to each other and of the course the ability to offer very short run colour and variable data provides a printer with an additional offering for their customers.”

The agreement between Heidelberg and Konica Minolta in Australia (New Zealand is excluded) was revealed at this year’s IPEX tradeshow and is the first of its kind to be announced worldwide, less than a week after Heidelberg CEO, Bernhard Schreier, announced that the German offset press giant was looking to get back into digital.
