Brisbane enraptured over drupa unwrapped show

drupa unwrapped touched down in Brisbane last night to create one of the best attended seminars the printing industry had hosted in Queensland.

Printing Industries' Queensland general manager, Neal McLary, said the event, at the Queensland Rugby Union Club, was the most successful seminar staged for many years.

"We had a good array of speakers and it was quite obvious that there are many print company owners very interested in the innovation that has come out of drupa and how this may benefit their business in years to come," he said.

"A highlight was a preview from some of the suppliers into what is likely to be on show at PacPrint in Melbourne next year as Australia stages its own mini version of drupa.

"Our Queensland 2007 Apprentice of the Year, Adam Murphy, also provided a younger person's perspective on drupa having attended the event as part of the apprentice award and visited establishments in other parts of Europe."

McLary said all the speakers should be commended for their insightful presentations. These included Océ's business unit manager: document printing, Tim Saleeba; AGFA's  regional marketing manager,  Garry Muratore; Fuji Xerox's national commercial print business manager,  Brett Maishman; Currie company group digital division general manager, Phillip Rennell  and Heidelberg's Queensland account manager, Sean Fogarty.

The roadshow moves to Melbourne next week with a breakfast event on Wednesday 16 July from 7am (for 7.30am) at the Novatel Hotel, 285-287 Springvale Road, Glen Waverley.

Printing Industries' national communications and technical services manager, Joe Kowalewski, said the Melbourne event would also feature the Printer's Perspective on drupa presented by GEON's group process and operations improvement manager, Mt Waverley and Docklands, Shane Smithe; Trevor Hone managing director of Avon Graphics and Mark Randles, general manager, Print Bound.

drupa unwrapped moves to Perth on 23 July and Sydney 29 July. Registration for all events can be made by calling 1800 227 425 or via the Printing Industries website www.printnet.com.au  or online via the following links:
