The Age newspaper has printed an advert sympathising with the Western Bulldogs on their AFL "Grand Final loss" - the day after the team's historic 89-67 win over the Sydney Swans.
Victoria University bought a half-page ad to be published on the Sunday following the grand final and two ads were created in preparation for either a loss or a win by the Bulldogs.
But a printing error saw The Age accidentally publish an ad commiserating with the Bulldogs on their loss:
In spite of the disappointment of the Grand Final loss, the Bulldogs showed incredible heart and sportsmanship until the final siren, led by skipper and VU student Easton Wood.
As a proud partner of the Western Bulldogs, Victoria University would like to congratulate the team on an outstanding 2016 season.
The rival Herald Sun newspaper printed the correct ad that acknowledged the Bulldogs' first premiership title since 1954:
Congratulation to the Western Bulldogs on a heart-stopping 2016 Toyota AFL grand final win against the Sydney Swans on Saturday.
