Sydney large format specialist Cactus Imaging, acquired last year by ASX-listed oOh!media, says a new Durst 512R printer has transformed its out-of-home (OOH) advertising printing operation.
The Durst 512R, the latest in grand format UV print technology, is capable of printing 5m wide at 360-metres in two hours.
The Austrian/Italian-manufactured machine is “the Bentley of printers, top of the line, technically advanced and extremely versatile,” says Cactus Imaging GM Nigel Spicer.
“It takes Out Of Home advertising to another level with the short lead times for print. The Durst 512R is capable of printing 5m wide with unbelievable print quality. It does away with banding in wide format printing. Its versatility allows us to print on vinyl, mesh, SAV (self-adhesive vinyl), polyethylene and fabric. It has increased our capacity to attract new clients.”
Acquired by oOh!media in 2016 for about $6 million, Cactus has a reputation as an industry-leading innovator and is the first company in Australia to offer clients printing with a Durst 512R.
After testing the new machine at its Sydney location, Cactus is now using the Durst to produce work for a range of industries – from large format billboards for OOH to retail, construction, high resolution wallpaper and interior design, and fashion exhibitions.
“The 512R is so technically advanced that we’ve been able to combine the ultra-flexible inks with the very latest European printable textiles to produce stunning fabric prints,” says Spicer. “Our wide range encompasses outdoor billboards and the most delicate of backlit high fashion-printed images.”
oOh!media CEO Brendon Cook says the investment in the Durst will ensure that Cactus remains an innovator in the Australian market. “It will help oOh! to deliver high quality Out Of Home campaigns in the classic format, with unparalleled speed to market, for Australian brands.”
Cactus Imaging produces front lit and backlit billboards, point of purchase posters, retail displays and decals, street furniture, stadium and arena displays, transit advertising, airport terminal displays, exhibition graphics and displays, wall murals, banners, event and stage backdrops, point of sale displays, and construction signage and hoardings.
Cactus was founded in 1996 and is based at Silverwater in Sydney, with sales offices in Sydney and Melbourne.
